Are you looking to invest in teeth straightening treatment? How much do you know about Invisalign? If the sound of Invisalign intrigues you, you may want to consider getting Invisalign.
Due to more adults investing in dental treatment in order to straighten their teeth, dental technologies have advanced to create teeth straightening treatments such as Invisalign, in order to help individuals achieve the smile they want.
The need to know about Invisalign
Also referred to as invisible braces, Invisalign is a teeth straightening treatment offered to individuals who would like to straighten their teeth without going for the traditional metal braces option, where the braces are fixed onto your teeth for the duration of the treatment.
Invisalign treatment consists of using 3D imaging technology and transparent, custom made aligners which gradually straighten an individual’s teeth without the need of metal wires and brackets, which is the method used with traditional metal braces. With the latest dental technology, Invisalign has now been developed to treat and correct even the most complex cases and there are now four main Invisalign treatments for individuals.
The most commonly recommended treatment which is able to treat even the most complex cases are called Invisalign Teen. For less complex cases, there is the option to have Invisalign Lite and also an option for younger patients, whose mouths are still growing and developing, called Invisalign Teen. If you are looking to quickly correct just a few teeth there is also Invisalign i7.
What to expect with Invisalign
Once you have discussed dental treatment options with your dentist at your free consultation and decided to go ahead with Invisalign treatment, a 3D scan will be taken, which will be able to show you how your teeth will look after the Invisalign treatment. After this, your teeth will be thoroughly examined by the dentist to ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy, ahead of the treatment. In order to plan the treatment, impressions will also be taken of your teeth which will be used alongside Invisalign’s innovative software called ClinCheck. This software will be able to not only show the end result of having Invisalign but also show how your teeth will gradually move during the treatment.
If you are happy with the proposed treatment plan and expected results, you will be invited back to the dental practice where your first set of aligners will be fitted. Depending on the complexity of the case, during the treatment your dentist may also attach to some of your teeth small tooth – coloured ‘buttons’. These buttons will assist the aligners in moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.
Unlike fixed braces such as traditional metal braces, you will be asked to visit your dental practice between every one to two months in order for the dentist to check the progress of your teeth as well as providing you with your new set of aligners. Usually, you are required to change your aligners every two weeks but this is all dependent on the treatment plan. So when you visit your dentist, you will be provided with enough aligners to last you until your next dental appointment.
